One way to learn about art and marvel at the impossibly rich world of today's collectors (amongst whom there surely must be true art lovers), I was gorging on clips of auctions at Christie's.
This auctioneer caught my eye. If not mistaken, Adrien Meyer is "The Auctioneer". He struck me as both sophisticated and an irony-loving bon vivant.
This sketch paves the way for a larger oil portrait, as well a triple portrait of M. Meyer and two of his impeccable colleagues. The light on their ultra-mondain faces made me want to paint them ... turning the attention back on those who, though not artists, people and influence the vagaries of the art world. All's fair in love and art, non?
