A distant mesa, visible from Clearfield, Utah.
This was the first town I lived in upon moving to Utah in 2010, and having a remote mesa in view when coming down off the highway was, well, my way of claiming a land-feature rather like Georgia O'Keeffe and her Pedernal.
Unlike the great artist, I would only paint this mesa once. I'd no sooner set up my studio there, we moved perforce to a better home. The new place had no studio.
Now that I am settled, and with space to paint, "my mesa" wants more work. Perhaps an entirely different approach.
This one is giving me a lot of grief. Each iteration presents new problems. I'll give it one more go, and if I can't make it sing, I'll have a ready-made stretcher for new canvas.
