It's Such a Strain is based on a sketch I did in February, 2006. It was a fraught time, barely two months after my former husband, poet Irving Layton had died and the post-mortem -- sorry to say -- shitshow had begun.
The sketch made me laugh out loud, something I'd not done in many months. Always wanted to work it up into a painting.
Some twelve years after dashing off that sketch, I began this piece. I've just submitted it to Utah's 94th Annual Springville Spring Salon.
